Thanks SO much to everyone who helped me out under my last video! The trick for making DIY slime without borax seems to be baking soda which activates the borate inside eye drops or contact lens solution. I’ve been fascinated by beautiful videos of DIY thai slime / DIY indonesian slime on Instagram and I’ve been trying to remake those since the beginning of this year. I think I’ve finally cracked it and this fluffy version is the first slime DIY in this series :D.
I have a new DIY crystal slime coming soon and it’s also made without borax. After doing some research, I realised that borate is actually a very common ingredient used to “buffer” the pH of soap or cosmetics so it doesn’t burn your eyes. So that also explains why DIY slime recipes also work with certain face soaps or shampoos since those definitely also contain borate to neutralise the stinging effect.

The only brands of clear glue that work for DIY slime are Elmer’s Glue (USA), Povinal (Asia) and a type of Korean glue used by the famous DIY slime channel PomPom. For people living in Austria/Germany, you can use Pelikan Pelifix, sold in T€dimarkt and over Amazon.de! I bought my eye drops form Pearle Optik and the contact lens solution and facewash from DM.

What if it says boric acid on the contact solution will it still work?

You should have tried putting in the soap (you can also use shaving cream to) first because it would be more stretchy

I tried this and I used school glue and eye drops with boric acid and baking soda it made slime but as I kept playing with it and it hardened what did I do wrong?
